It’s that time of year again. Recruits for next year’s basketball class are narrowing down their choices, fan bases are getting their hopes up, and coaches are losing sleep.
Kennedy Chandler, one of the top point guards in the 2021 class, has announced his final five, and Kentucky made the cut.

Chandler is the No. 15 overall player and No. 2 point guard in the 2021 class, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. Kentucky has been recruiting him hard for a long time, and they are still in the running alongside the Duke Blue Devils, Tennessee Volunteers, North Carolina Tar Heels and Memphis Tigers.
There is no official timeline for Chandler’s decision, but most of Kentucky’s best classes have started with a commitment from a strong point guard. John Calipari had a virtual visit with the Memphis (TN) native earlier this month.
We also know that the NBA G-League is in hot pursuit of the 6-1 guard. He is one of the players that has been prioritized by Rod Strickland and others to pursue the newest alternative to college basketball.
Chandler may not be ranked as a top 10 player right now, but he will certainly be one of the biggest prizes of the 2021. class. Look at these highlights from last summer to see why Coach Cal is working to hard to land him.
