Ask yourself this question: who is Kentucky’s starting five for the 2020 season opener? Any answer you have it truly up in the air. The COVID-19 pandemic could potentially cripple how this summer’s NBA Draft could be handled and that could lead to Kentucky Wildcats players returning for another year in Lexington. Add in the players who never really had much draft stock to begin with and Kentucky suddenly has an inflation issue.

The only player guaranteed to leave Kentucky is graduate transfer Nate Sestina. And while Tyrese Maxey has been highly regarded in multiple NBA mock drafts, any player other than Maxey staying in the draft is highly unlikely.

Therefore, we could see a potential return of Ashton Hagans, Immanuel Quickley, EJ Montgomery and of course Nick Richards. That doesn’t even include Keion Brooks, who made late strides down the stretch. Add in the country’s No. 1 recruiting class for this fall and Kentucky could struggle to find enough room for everyone.

Sure, an overload of talent could be a good problem to have (see the 2014-2015 season) but Kentucky could also lose one or two decent players due to the fear of not seeing the court this fall. With both Johnny Juzang and Khalil Whitney transferring out this season, some room in the backcourt has certainly opened up. However, there are still a few questions that remain unanswered.
