It hasn’t been the greatest offseason for Kentucky Basketball, but there are still very high expectations for the 2020-21 Wildcats.
Case in point, the latest odds from Bovada still have Kentucky tied with Gonzaga (+1000) for the second-best odds to win it all next season. Only Villanova is higher, ever so slightly at +900.
Of course, the rosters for those three teams, as well as several other contenders for next season, have yet to be finalized. Villanova is still waiting to see if projected first-round pick Saddiq Bey remains in the NBA Draft. while several key Gonzaga players are also testing the draft waters, most notably star center Filip Petrusev.
As for Kentucky, all of their NBA early-entrants have already announced they’ll forgo their remaining college eligibility, so the only additions that can be made now are via transfer or a high school recruit.
Even without another addition, Kentucky is bringing in the No. 1 recruiting class, highlighted by two top-five stars in Terrence Clarke and Brandon Boston, who will keep Kentucky in the national discussion.
