UK recruit Efton Reid still mulling over reclassification

Kentucky also remains in contact with Reid.

It’s no secret that, while next year’s team is stacked with talent, there is a glaring hole in the frontcourt.

There won’t be a single player over 6-9, and that’s a rarity for a John Calipari Kentucky team. As a result, we’ve seen the staff pursue several big man targets over the past couple of months to fill the need, but it hasn’t worked out.

With that being said, there is potential brewing with 2021 five-star center, Efton Reid. He is a bruiser, standing at 6-11 and weighing 225 pounds.

According to a report from Stock Risers, the big man from Richmond (VA) stated “Chances of me going 2020 right now are still open,” when asked about reclassifying.

This could be big for the Wildcats. While they haven’t offered Reid yet, their need for frontcourt help is apparent. The report also stated that Reid and the Kentucky coaching staff has been texting “a good amount.”

As it stands, Reid currently holds offers from Louisville, Virginia, Georgetown, Ohio State, Kansas and many others. However, 247 currently has no predictions in their crystal ball so it looks like he’s keeping his options wide open.

Reid has been rather quiet with his recruitment to this point. I expect it to stay that way, but don’t be surprised if rumors start to heat up with him.

He’s currently ranked 20th overall in the 2021 class and if he did reclassify, he would have a great opportunity to join the Wildcats next season and make an immediate impact.
