The University of Kentucky Football program is looking for a quarterback in the 2023 class and one of their targets is the son of a former Wildcats QB playing in the Bluegrass State.

Jacob Jones, a quarterback from West Jessamine High School in Nicholasville, KY, and he is also the son of former Wildcats quarterback Pookie Jones, who also played baseball for the school and went on to play Major League Baseball with the Colorado Rockies.

Pookie Jones played quarterback at Kentucky for three seasons, from 1991-1993 where he finished with 29 total touchdowns passing and running.

Jacob is a 6’1, 180 pound quarterback at West Jessamine and he recently did an interview with Freddie Maggard from Kentucky Sports Radio. This exchange in particular stands out.

Q: Does the fact that your dad played at Kentucky help the Wildcat’s cause?

Jones: Yes because it would be an honor to play at the same school as my dad.

It seems like Jacob puts a lot of emphasis on the tradition in the family. As he continues to develop, it seems like the interest is there on both ends. This will definitely be a recruitment to watch.
