The Kentucky Wildcats have a new name to watch for in the 2020 class.
With much of the class having dwindled down to just a handful of top-100 recruits still on the market, four-star center Frank Anselem is one of the top remaining names.
And it just so happens Kentucky is reaching out to Anselem, according to Rivals reporter Dan McDonald.

Listed at 6-10 and 220 pounds, Anselem is ranked 85th nationally in the 2020 class by 247 Sports Composite. He currently holds offers from Kansas, Oregon, Auburn, Tennessee, Arizona, Alabama, LSU, Maryland, Florida and Arkansas among others. He plays at Prolific Prep in California and currently has predictions in favor of LSU, Alabama and Georgia in the 247 Sports Crystal Ball and Rivals FutureCast.
Now, before you look at his ranking and freak out, this is exactly the kind of guy many of us have wanted to see Calipari recruit more: Developmental guys who can come in and play 10-15 minutes as a freshman, develop, stick around for 2-4 years, and eventually become an impact starter, or at worst a serviceable backup for more depth. Plus, that offer sheet shows Anselem is someone a lot of major programs think will develop into an impact player down the line.
Yes, it would be nicer if UK could land a big-name grad transfer to make a big impact as soon as he arrives on campus, but at this point, just getting bodies to fill out the roster would be a win, especially after all the times we’ve watched Calipari take just 8-10 scholarship players into a season and get burned by it at one point or another.
Heck, maybe Kentucky could get Anselem and another name for next season. While he has potential, Anselem doesn’t look like someone who will scare off 2021 recruits or rock the boat with the incoming players for next season.
