The football staff at the University of Kentucky has been cleaning up lately when it comes to in-state recruiting. And now is the time to start locking down the class of 2021.

Monday was a big step in continuing to pull in-state talent to Lexington, as North Harding running back La’Vell Wright announced his top six, and the Kentucky Wildcats made the list.

Wright is the No. 51 running back in the entire 2021 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. The three-star ball carrier is also ranked as the No. 7 player in the state of Kentucky for that class.

Mark Stoops and his staff are competing with Northwestern, Boston College, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, and Purdue to land the Radcliff, KY native. Kentucky only has one other traditional running back, Torrance Davis from Garfield Heights, OH, committed for 2021.

There are no crystal ball predictions in for Wright on 247 Sports, but I do see that Vince Marrow is listed as the primary recruitment. If the Big Dawg has anything to do with it, I always like Kentucky’s chances. That is especially true within the borders of the Bluegrass State.

There is no timetable for a decision from Wright, but stay tuned here to A Sea of Blue for all the latest University of Kentucky recruiting updates.
