Now that Kentucky’s entire starting five has announced their intentions for the NBA Draft, we get to see the next steps they take in pursuit of a professional basketball career.

For players at this stage, perhaps the most important thing you can do is to lock down solid representation. Tyrese Maxey has done just that as he has officially signed with Klutch Sports Group.

Maxey is almost universally expected to be a lottery pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, probably being selected in the top 10. He averaged 14 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game in his only season in Lexington. He seemed to play his best when the lights were the brightest, and the spotlight will be on him wherever he is selected in the draft.

Klutch Sports is run by Rich Paul, LeBron James’ long-time friend. In addition to James, the group represents elite players Anthony Davis, John Wall, Eric Bledsoe, and Ben Simmons. It is certainly a special group to be a part of, and Maxey will be well taken care of in his contract and endorsement negotiations.

Maxey had a strong season in Lexington, and many expected this team to make a run in March. With as well as Maxey played in big games throughout the season, it would have been great to see him on the grand stage of the NCAA Tournament. Since that opportunity is passed, the best we can do now is to wish him well moving forward. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.
