The Kentucky Wildcats improbably won a road game against the Florida Gators while starting point guard Ashton Hagans stayed at home for personal reasons. I think everyone knows that this came because of Tuesday night’s argument with head coach John Calipari on the bench.
The move ended up working out. The Cats not only won in Florida, but Hagans watched the entire game and looked genuinely thrilled for his team.
After going down by 18 points, the Cats went on a rally with Immanuel Quickley having fouled out. Nick Richards, Tyrese Maxey, Nate Sestina, Keion Brooks, and Johnny Juzang were the only players that Calipari used with about nine minutes to go, and that unit showed as much or more heart than the entire team has all season.
Jason Ence and Terry Brown took to the airwaves to take calls and celebrate the win.
