The NCAA has extended another year of eligibility to spring athletes. Basketball, however, is not included, which means Nate Sestina (among other UK athletes) have played their last college game.

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen of the Big Blue Nation, and welcome to the Tuesday Morning Quickies.

The NCAA has announced that spring sports athletes (Baseball, softball, golf, lacrosse, etc.) will be permitted an extra year of college eligibility. The other side of the coin is that basketball, who lost its entire post-season, are unaffected by this decree, and thus seniors like Nate Sestina are now officially out of eligibility.

There are still some questions surrounding this edict, but I’m sure it will all be sorted out in time. It’s a sad ending for college basketball seniors to lose arguably their most important weeks of competition, but when life is cruel in small ways, we can be thankful when it is less so in more important ones.

Farewell to our winter athletics seniors. We’ll remember what could’ve been long after most of you have forgotten.
