Monday Quickies: Isaac DeGregorio Edition

Kentucky adds DeGregorio as a preferred walk on.

While former Kentucky Wildcat Johnny Juzang announced his transfer over the weekend, head coach John Calipari will bring on Isaac DeGregorio as a preferred walk on next season. It’s doubtful DeGregorio will be able to play defense comparable to Juzang’s of last season, but his ability to make shots appears to be second to none.

With Calipari open to a return by Juzang, Kentucky could very well have two knockdown shooters on the team. However, until we see otherwise, expectations for DeGregorio in a Kentucky jersey should be limited. Other walk ons are Ben Jordan, Brennan Canada, Riley Welch and Zan Payne.

The incoming freshman played at North Catholic High School last season, of which he was specifically recognized for his ability to shoot high percentages from the field as well from the free throw line.

With Kentucky expected to have many names in the NBA Draft this year, it’s unclear as to how many players the team will actually lose to The Association. Nonetheless, Calipari didn’t hesitate to bring in DeGregorio. Calipari played point guard for DeGregorio’s grandfather at Clarion University back during the 1980s.
