The Kentucky Wildcats are on an eight-game winning streak and are playing their best basketball of the season.
Kentucky is fresh off an SEC clinching victory over the Auburn Tigers on Saturday and have won their 49th regular season title in school history with two games left in the regular season.
The Cats also rose to #6 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll, which is two spot higher than they were last week.
Despite that, they still seem to be flying below the radar for a lot of people, as Joe Lunardi still has them as a 3 seed in his latest Bracketology.
Kentucky will take on the Tennessee Volunteers in Rupp on Tuesday night, and at his pregame press conference, head coach Rick Barnes had some high praise for the Cats.
“I think Kentucky is the most underrated and underappreciated team in the country right now. I think them and Kansas are the two best teams in the country.”
Barnes would know, as his Vols went into Lawrence for the Big 12-SEC Challenge and gave the Jayhawks all they wanted. Tennessee would later lose at home to Kentucky, the first time the Wildcats have won in Knoxville since 2015, so Barnes has a good idea of what Kansas and Kentucky bring to the table.
Kentucky is playing like one of the best teams in the country, and it is looking like the rest of the country is starting to notice, even if the computer rankings don’t like the Cats.
The Cats and Vols will tip off Tuesday night at 9:00 PM on ESPN.
