Saturday Quickies: Johnny Juzang Transfering Edition

New, 14 comments

Big things were expected for Juzang’s sophomore season.

NCAA Basketball: Kentucky at Florida Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Right now we are starved for just about any sports related news. But I think BBN could have done without yesterday’s breaking news. Freshman Johnny Juzang released a statement saying that he was transferring and his days as a Kentucky Wildcat were over.

This came as a stunner to most. Even though Juzang’s numbers were not great this past season, fans and John Calipari were looking forward to watching him as a sophomore. As he became more comfortable with the college game, one could see the potential of a really good college basketball player.

That makes two transfers in one season for John Calipari. Although I think both transfers had different reasoning behind them, it’s apparent that if instant success does not happen at UK, there are some players that would rather not stick around more than one season to find out.

Calipari would take Juzang back but I think that ship has sailed.
