Nearly all season, most of the Big Blue Nation has fairly assumed that Ashton Hagans would leave for the NBA after this season.
Coming into Lexington after reclassifying, it was well known that Hagans wanted to reach the league as soon as possible, and after struggling to gain much traction on draft boards after his freshman season, it was assumed that he would leave after his sophomore campaign.
But Hagans still hasn’t quite saw his draft stock rise and a recent comment on an Instagram Live post has some wondering if Hagans might return to Lexington for a junior campaign.

“You already know, we’re gonna run it back”
John Calipari and the Kentucky coaches would seemingly like the idea of a veteran guard returning next year to run the point. Devin Askew is the only point guard committed in the class, and returning Hagans or Immanuel Quickley could allow Askew to ease into his role and not be saddled with a ton of pressure early on as he develops.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that Hagans will be returning to Lexington next season. In fact, I think it’s still more likely than not that he leaves to make a bid for the NBA, but this certainly indicates that he is at least considering the possibility.
Did you see Hagans’ Instagram post last night? Do you think it’s possible he returns?
