The Kentucky Wildcats are one of if not the hottest team in the country right now, as they have won eight in a row and 16 of their last 18.
A lot of computer analytic systems still have the Cats ranked lower than you would expect, as the NET has them at No. 14, and KenPom has them all the way down at No. 26.
However, the Cats are getting the recognition they deserve from Andy Katz of NCAA.com.
In his updated Power 36 Rankings, Katz has moved Kentucky up to No. 4 and had this to say about the Cats.
“The Wildcats are the SEC champs and enter the NCAA tournament as a contender.”
Just ahead of Kentucky in the rankings are the Kansas Jayhawks, Gonzaga Bulldogs, and Dayton Flyers.
The Auburn Tigers were the only other SEC team to make the top 36, coming in at No. 19 after their loss to Kentucky over the weekend, which is two spots lower than their previous ranking.
It is good to see a college basketball expert give the Cats the credit they deserve instead of still holding that November 12th loss to Evansville over their head. Kentucky is a completely different team now than they were back then.
