Never too early to make predictions.

With the 2019-2020 season over, it’s time to turn the page to next season.

Looking ahead, Jon Rothstein of College Hoops Today, has released his early 2021 rankings, and the Kentucky Wildcats rank 10th.

Not only did Rothstein tab the Cats 10th heading into next season, but he also made projections on which players he thinks will leave and which he sees staying. He believes Tyrese Maxey, Nick Richards and Ashton Hagans will all be heading for the NBA while Immanuel Quickley, EJ Montgomery, Keion Brooks and Johnny Juzang stay.

Retaining the SEC Player of the Year in Quickley would be huge for a Wildcats team that is set to have six true freshmen next year and at least three to four veterans departing. Bringing back Montgomery would also be beneficial as Kentucky lacks frontcourt depth in their recruiting class and almost surely will lose Richards.

Here’s a look at Rothstein’s early top 10 for 2021.

  1. Gonzaga Bulldogs
  2. Villanova Wildcats
  3. Baylor Bears
  4. Kansas Jayhawks
  5. Florida State Seminoles
  6. Iowa Hawkeyes
  7. Creighton Bluejays
  8. Virginia Cavaliers
  9. Ohio State Buckeyes
  10. Kentucky Wildcats
