How far would the Wildcats have made it in the NCAA Tournament?

Could this have been a special run?

NCAA Basketball: Kentucky at Florida Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Kentucky Wildcats finished the season with a regular of 25-6 and a regular season SEC title. They got wins on the road at Tennessee, Arkansas, LSU, Florida, and Texas Tech. Regardless of the ups and downs, this ended up being a fantastic season, even after the unfathomable loss at Evansville.

It is obviously impossible to predict how Kentucky would have finished, but that would never prevent us from trying. In fact, some people continued to tweet about the games as if the SEC Tournament had played out.

Joe Lunardi’s last crack at Bracketology put the Wildcats in the tournament as the 2-seed in the Midwest region where Kansas was the 1-seed and Duke was the 3-seed. I HIGHLY doubt the committee would have put those teams in the same region. At that point, I think Joe was just trying to mess with people.

Regardless of seed, this year was set to have one of the most unpredictable tournaments in recent memory. Aside from Kansas, there was no dominant team down the stretch. The Jayhawks would have likely been a favorite, but the overall No. 1 rarely wins the tournament.

Given the potential parity of the tournament, it seems Kentucky’s seed and placement would have been less important than in recent years. So no matter where they ultimately landed, how far do you think this Kentucky Wildcats team could have played into March?
