The Kentucky Wildcats may have seen their season brutally cut short due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but there could be hope on the horizon. That hope is in the form of Greg Brown’s decision.
Brown is the No. 1 power forward and No. 9 overall prospect in the Class of 2020. He is also the No. 1 prospect from the state of Texas and has received a .997 score from 247 Sports.
Brown is highly coveted and has seen offers from college basketball’s most prestigious programs. The list of offers include places like North Carolina, Memphis, Michigan and Kansas.
Obviously, in that list as well are the Kentucky Wildcats. That said, Brown recently posted to his Instagram story and captioned the black background with “decision coming soon.”
But while Kentucky is still in the hunt, 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball has Texas ahead with Memphis gaining ground. Rivals has 100% of the picks going to Memphis, so it seems Kentucky is becoming a longshot.
However, as with most athletes, you never know till the hat comes on and their decision is made.
The Wildcats already have two top-10 recruits inbound, so Brown would just be the icing on the cake, not necessarily a make-or-break commit like he would be for Texas or Memphis.
That said, obviously, the Wildcats still want Brown in Lexington, as he could help bolster a frontcourt that’s almost certain to lose Nick Richards, and EJ Montgomery could exit too while Nate Sestina graduates.
