Even though things are pretty much at a stand still in the sports world right now, there will still be developments when it comes to the recruiting side of things.
Proof of that could be found on Sunday when a three star safety out of Miami (FL) narrowed down his list to 10 schools. I used the term “narrowed” loosely.
Even though there are still a number of schools in play, the University of Kentucky did make the cut. The 5-11 175 pound defensive back is ranked as the 69th best safety in America by 247 Sports.
Edwards made the announcement via a tweet from his page on Sunday afternoon. The graphic that went along with it was pretty sweet as you can see below.

Recruitment Still Open...#TOP10 ! pic.twitter.com/XtygyO0OlA
Kentucky still has competition with nine of schools if they want a commitment from Edwards, including their biggest rival, the University of Louisville. The other programs that made his final list were West Virginia, Baylor, Syracuse, Tennessee, Michigan, Pitt, Florida State and Miami. There hasn’t been any other timeline provided as to when he might be making his decision.
A notable piece to Edwards’ recruitment and where it stands right now is that Florida state just had him on campus this past weekend. Normally that would be business as usual but with the circumstances surrounding the globe right now it’s very unclear when he may be hosted by another program. It’s obviously likely that he will in fact take more visits considering he has a long-time before he needs to make a commitment. But this spring will be a lot different than normal with the restrictions surrounding recruiting and football operations in general.
This past season for the Wildcats proved that depth in the defensive backfield is critical. Preseason injuries left some vulnerabilities that many people didn’t think the defense would be able to overcome. But the Cats did rise to the challenge and ultimately had a good year.
Adding players from south Florida with the tremendous like Edwards will help UK maintain the stingy defensive reputation that they’ve earned over the past several years.
