Great news.

With spring sports being canceled due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the NCAA is planning to allow an extra year of eligibility to athletes from said sports.

On Friday, it was announced that the NCAA’s Council Coordination Committee agreed to grant an additional year of eligibility to athletes who participate in spring sports such as baseball, tennis, golf, lacrosse and softball.

This means that the Kentucky baseball and softball teams could have everyone back next season after having their seasons canceled just as SEC play was beginning.

The baseball Cats are currently 11-6 and are riding a six-game winning streak. They were set to open SEC play this weekend on the road vs. the No. 6 Vanderbilt Commodores.

The softball Cats are 20-4 overall and had won nine of 10 entering their weekend road clash with the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Good on the NCAA for making the right decision to not let these seniors have their careers abruptly end.
