The NCAA Tournament is officially canceled.

On Wednesday, the NCAA decided that the NCAA Tournament would be played but it would be without fans in attendance. Now with the cancellation of conference tournaments on Thursday, many wonders if the big dance will still happen.

Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports is reporting that a decision on the tournament won’t come until Friday.

“Top NCAA officials are meeting most of the day Thursday to decide the future of the 2020 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament amid growing concerns over the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, a high-level NCAA source told CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd. Though a decision could be shared with the public at any point, the current expectation is that an official announcement won’t be made until Friday”

Many conferences like the ACC and the SEC have decided to suspend spring sports in their leagues going forward and a lot of other sporting events were either canceled or will not have fans in attendance.

The NCAA Tournament has been played every year since it began in 1939 and it is looking like 2020 will be the first year that we do not have March Madness. But it looks like we will know for certainty on Friday.
