The Kentucky Wildcats are once again SEC regular-season champions.
UK’s latest crown came Saturday when they defeated the Auburn Tigers, 73-66. The Tigers had a chance to keep the race going for another week with a win, which would have put them just a game behind the Cats for first place.
But UK had other plans, as Immanuel Quickley scored a game-high 18 points, highlighted by 11/11 shooting from the free-throw line. The sophomore guard also pulled in a career-high 12 rebounds.
Tyrese Maxey added 17, while Nick Richards went for 14, and the Cats’ defense held Auburn to 36.1% shooting from the field and 26.5% shooting from three-point range.
Up next, Kentucky hosts Tennessee Tuesday at 9 pm EST for Senior Day, then travels to Florida for a Saturday clash with the Gators to wrap up regular-season play.
