How will Kentucky fare this week in the SEC?

Can the Cats get back on track with a pair of conference wins?

NCAA Basketball: Kentucky at Tennessee Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

The Kentucky Wildcats suffered their second loss of conference play last Saturday when they fell to the Auburn Tigers on the plains.

This week, the Cats will look to get back on track with a pair of SEC matchups as they’ll host the Mississippi State Bulldogs Tuesday and travel down I-75 to take on the Tennessee Volunteers Saturday.

Kentucky has not lost to Mississippi State since John Calipari arrived in Lexington but will face a big challenge in trying to stop Bulldogs forward Reggie Perry, a strong contender for the frontrunner for the SEC Player of the Year award. The 6-10 forward is averaging a double-double 17.2 points and 10 rebounds as Mississippi State currently sits on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

As for Tennessee, they have struggled since star guard Lamonte Turner went down with a season-ending injury.

Regardless, winning in Knoxville has been nearly impossible of late for the Wildcats as their last win at Thompson-Boling Arena came back in 2016.
