Many concerns arose when former Kentucky Wildcats defensive coordinator Matt House left the program to take a coaching job with the Kansas City Chiefs. Many expected Kentucky’s defense to take a steep decline. However, that was far from the case. The Kentucky staff coached up a young, but talented, defense and played well enough to sit in the top-tier of many categories across the nation. House, in his first season with the Chiefs, won this year’s Super Bowl on Sunday evening just less than a year after departing Lexington. The linebacker’s coach assisted in developing one of the NFL’s better units over the final course of the season and was rewarded in a rightful manner following his team’s winning efforts against the San Francisco 49ers.
