Kentucky won, and Duke lost.
That’s one of the best sentences one can echo in the Bluegrass, and that’s exactly what played out on this Tuesday night.
One week after Duke was hammered by a bubble NC State team, the Blue Devils went to Wake Forest as 11-point favorites against an 11-15 Demon Deacons squad that’s currently ranked 109th in NET.
But about an hour after the Wildcats notched a big win at Texas A&M, the Blue Devils fell in double-overtime to the Demon Deacons, 113-101.
This is easily one of the biggest upsets in college basketball this season, as Wake Forest entered the night with just four wins in conference play, were just a game ahead of North Carolina for last place in the ACC, and their best win of the season was over Xavier, who is ranked 43rd in NET (Duke is currently ranked 6th...somehow).
Oh, and Kentucky is now tied with Duke at 23-5 overall and has a real shot at being seeded ahead of the Blue Devils come Selection Sunday.
