The Kentucky Wildcats hit the road tonight, aiming to strengthen their hold on the top spot in the SEC standings as they head to College Station to take on the Texas A&M Aggies (14-12, 8-6 SEC).
A recurring theme comes into play with this matchup, as the Aggies are playing some of their best basketball of the season coming into tonight's matchup, as they ride a three-game winning streak. On Saturday, the Aggies had one of their best performances of the season, shooting nearly 60 percent from the field and 53 percent from beyond the arc to easily defeat the Mississippi State Bulldogs 87-75.
The Aggies will hope to carry that momentum into their matchup with the Wildcats, who also enter on a bit of a hot streak.
If Kentucky wants to continue to trend upward, they’ll need to have a strong defensive effort from the frontcourt as they match up with Aggies forward Josh Nebo. The 6’9”, 245 lb. Houston native is coming off a 21-point performance on Saturday and is the Aggies leading scorer.
Aside from Nebo, the Aggies have one other player averaging double figures in 6’7” guard Savion Flagg, who averages 10 ppg for the Aggies.
College Station figures to be a raucous environment tonight, so the Wildcats must be prepared for that, but if they come out and play their game, the Wildcats should be able to escape with a win and be one step closer to a regular season SEC championship.
Tipoff is at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
