On Monday, UK revealed that there would be a special announcement being made at 1:45 pm EST.
Immediately, the imagination of Big Blue Nation ran wild. Could it be new uniforms? Perhaps an announcement that Dontaie Allen would make a his debut this week? Dare I even guess that beer would now be allowed at home games?
Not exactly.
When it was time for the special announcement, Nick Richards came to the podium and announced the ‘Pick Nick & Quick’ campaign for postseason honors for himself and Quickley.

Both Richards and Quickley have been playing at an All-American level this season, so it makes sense for UK to start a campaign that endorses both of them for postseason honors like All-SEC picks, SEC Player of the Year, All-American selections, and perhaps even a positional player of the year award. UK is hoping that Quickley and Richards will share Co-SEC Player of the Year honors.
For the season, Quickley is averaging a team-high 15.7 points per game while reaching double-figures in 16 straight games, the longest streak for a UK player since Malik Monk had 30 in the 2016-17 season.
Richards is averaging 14.3 points on 65.6% shooting, a team-high 8.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. He’s reached double-figures in 21 games and has 10 double-doubles on the season.
