The Kentucky Wildcats are set to face off against the Florida Gators this evening at 6:00 PM in what is shaping up to be quite the interesting affair.
John Calipari addressed the media yesterday and he wasn’t clear on whether or not Nick Richards or Ashton Hagans would play today. The Cats are in a great position in the SEC as they are two games up on the LSU Tigers and the Auburn Tigers. They cannot afford to falter at this juncture of the season.
Not only is the SEC regular season still in play, the Cats are vying for a three seed (possible two seed) in the NCAA Tournament.
If either, or both, of Nick or Ashton cannot play then the Cats could be in for a long afternoon.
But my gut feeling says we will see both of them suit up and play today.

Quickies
The #10 Wildcats face a tough home game | UK Athletics- While the Gators haven’t been the team we all thought they would be, they’re entering Rupp Arena with a very flimsy hold on an NCAA tournament berth. A win today would be huge for Florida.
Cats projected as a three seed by Lunardi | ESPN- This is a great matchup and location for UK. The crazy thing is they can actually improve upon their seeding.
The feel good Nick Richards story that almost never was | Cats Pause- If Kerry Blackshear had come to UK, would the emergence of Nick Richards be something that we are all talking about? I think so. EJ Montgomery would have been the odd man out.
Cats power past Appalachian State | UK Athletics- It was a 7-3 win for the Cats as they are now 2-3 on the season after a rocky start.
DeMarcus Cousins out in LA | CBS- The former UK big man was waived by the LA Lakers as they make room for Markieff Morris. One has to wonder if we have seen the last of Boogie in the NBA.
How the Ball brothers moved away from the family business | Sporting News- Remember Big Baller Brand? Lonzo and Lamelo Ball have distanced themselves from their father’s failed company.
Baylor vs. Kansas tops weekend slate | USA Today- It’s a big weekend for college basketball. It would have been even bigger if the Florida at Kentucky matchup had more sizzle. No thanks to the Gators.
