Yesterday, #PickNick was released in support of Nick Richards for All-American. It’s arguably the best marketing strategy that the basketball program has ever done, and it’s timely, too, being that it is an election year.
With #PickNick gaining traction, the country is being put on notice of OUR new candidate, one that will fight for us but also send our shot into the seventh row - Nick Richards.
After two so-so seasons in Lexington, Richards has become not just one of the best centers in the nation, but one of the best overall players in college basketball, and it’s been a big reason why UK is now a threat to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
Here’s some of the best reactions to #PickNick:

In 2017, Richards struggled finishing plays & taking care of the ball. When pressured, he often got the ball stripped or turned it over. Now, he’s strong with the ball when he’s trapped. He doesn’t panic & look to get rid of it, now he is patient, rips the ball through & finishes pic.twitter.com/5ru2X2MxfQ

In Synergy's efficiency rankings, @iamnickrichards is in the 99th percentile nationally in offensive efficiency (1.21 points per possession) and in the 85th percentile defensively (0.691 PPP). pic.twitter.com/KV7DU5UY2S

I forgot to make dinner reservations for my anniversary and my wife was furious.

So Nick Richards made us a five-course meal from scratch and served it over candlelight. ALL WHILE SERENADING US WITH LOVE SONGS FROM THE YEAR WE WERE MARRIED.#PickNick
Once I was driving at night during a thunderstorm. A tree branch broke free and came hurdling at my car. Nick Richards came out of nowhere; rain streaming off of a Jamaican flag draped across his back like a superhero cape, and swatted the branch away. Saved my life. #PickNick

You’ve heard of “Bend it like Beckham”!? Well, truth be told I wasn’t the first to create that incredible curving goal. I first saw it in Jamaica when I saw Nick Richards do it. He said “I’m gonna be an All American in basketball, you can have it.” He’s THAT guy. #PickNick

Every political ad should be this. Also Nick Richards is awesome. This is the best All-American campaign video I’ve seen pic.twitter.com/dCGQ2Md3aK

Those brags are so outrageous it’s almost like they were in an effort to do pub for a guy like #PickNick for All-American but the part about your anniversary is so believable we can’t tell where the truth ends and the fabrication begins

Once, when I was a student at UK, one of those infamous squirrels tried to hit Nick Richards with an acorn, and fell out of the tree and knocked itself out. Nick, feeling sorry for the creature, gave it mouth to mouth resuscitation and brought him back. #PickNick
