Wednesday Quickies: On to Ole Miss Edition

The Cats move on to Saturday’s matchup against the Rebels

NCAA Basketball: Kentucky at Vanderbilt Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Following last night’s win on the road at Vanderbilt, the Kentucky Wildcats return home on Saturday for a home matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels.

The Rebels (13-11, 4-7 SEC) are coming off arguably their biggest win of the season, an 83-58 domination of in-state rival Mississippi State, in which Rebels guard Breein Tyree lit up the Bulldogs for 40 points.

The Rebels are on a bit of a hot streak after picking up their third consecutive win last night, with wins over Florida and South Carolina before that.

The Wildcats should be a heavy favorite coming into the game, but the Cats will have to find a way to contain Tyree, who has scored 38, 23, and 40 over the last three games.

This game should also be an opportunity for Nick Richards to have a major impact. The Rebels are mostly known for their backcourt, so Richards could have the potential to have a big game.

The Cats and the Rebels have an afternoon tip-off with the game beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday on ESPN.
