The boys are back together again! It’s been over a decade since former Kentucky Wildcats John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins suited up side-by-side in Kentucky blue. After Wednesday night’s trade was made to send Wall to the Houston Rockets, though, Wall and Cousins will be reunited as teammates for the upcoming season.
While there could be expected rust between the two for not playing together in more than a decade, each will most likely have their own road blocks getting back to 100% on the court. Both are coming off significant surgeries that will most likely play a role in somewhat slowing down their play.
Wall, who hasn’t played a game since late 2018, is the biggest concern. His recent heel and achilles injuries could are worth being cautious about, though Rockets star James Harden apparently vouched for Wall’s health after playing recent pick up games with him.
For Cousins, the big man is coming off a combination of achilles and ACL tears over the last several years. As he’s such a large player, there has to be some sort of concern if he’ll ever return to the player he once was pre-injury.
While no one is expecting either player to come out and play at the All-NBA level both have before, there is some excitement for the two to suit up together once again. With the NBA’s return just around the corner, we won’t have to wait long.
What’s your regular season prediction for the Rockets and what do you expect from both Wall and Cousins?
