Thursday Quickies: Secret Transylvania Scrimmage Edition

Some details are leaking out about the Transy scrimmage

NCAA Basketball: Kentucky at Louisville Louisville Courier-Journal-USA TODAY Sports

There will be a day years from now where the Kentucky-Transylvania scrimmage will live in UK folklore, especially if Kentucky begins to turn the season around moving forward.

We don’t know a whole lot about the scrimmage. No score was kept, but the Cats came out on top in the closed-door matchup with the cross-town DIII squad.

One of the main topics has been Dontaie Allen, the Pendleton County native who has been the subject of a lot of discussion from fans and John Calipari in recent days. From most reports, Allen played well and made shots with most reports stating that he made six or seven three-pointers.

Will this translate into more playing time? We’ll have to see but no doubt that the reports from the scrimmage will give even more of a voice to the fans clamoring for more playing time for Allen.

KSR’s Matt Jones also reported that Brandon Boston had a solid performance in the scrimmage. That would be welcome news, as Boston, who was expected to be one of the top scorers in the conference this year, has really struggled offensively and could probably benefit from a confidence boost.

And according to Jerry Tipton, Jacob Toppin had a dunk that made everyone turn their head.

There are some more tidbits coming out from the scrimmage, but with Saturday coming up, the Big Blue Nation is probably more concerned about seeing the team come out and play well to end this losing streak against Mississippi State.
