Thursday Quickies: Bud Dupree Edition

Just an awful turn of events for the former Wildcat.

Last night was a tough break for former Kentucky Wildcats star Bud Dupree.

Dupree, playing on a franchise tag for the Pittsburgh Steelers hoping to earn a big contract this offseason while playing a key role on a team that is a contender in the AFC, suffered a horrible-looking injury late in the fourth quarter against the Baltimore Ravens.

Dupree holds the second-most sacks for the Steelers with eight, only trailing TJ Watt who has nine. He also has two forced fumbles on the year.

Dupree and the Steelers had been unable to work out a contract extension prior to the season and with his performance this year, Dupree was likely to see a significant payday, either from the Steelers or another team if he hit the market.

Now, with the salary cap in the NFL likely going down due to restricted attendance for games and the injury, Dupree’s future has some question marks.

A fan favorite in the Bluegrass state, all of the Big Blue Nation is sending well-wishes to Bud on his recovery and look for him to bounce back in a big way!
