Earlier today, John Calipari announced that freshman forward Cam’Ron Fletcher would be taking a leave of absence from the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team. Cal stated that Fletcher needed to do some “soul searching” in the process.
Tonight on his radio show, Calipari commented on Fletcher’s departure from the team.
“This is the best thing for him. It wasn’t one thing. It wasn’t one thing on the bench. This is a culmination of things where he needed to change, and he wasn’t changing. This is what Cam needed,” Calipari said.
“He’s got to change.”
Calipari also added that the reason that he went public today on Twitter with the news regarding Fletcher was that the media had already gotten ahold of it and Fletcher would have been noticeably absent from the game against Louisville on Saturday.
Calipari then added that he and Fletcher’s mother are on the same page regarding his break from the team.
Whatever issues that Fletcher may be going through, Calipari seems to be all-in on potentially welcoming him back to the team when that time comes.
We’re all rooting for Cam.
