The Kentucky Wildcats are 1-5 for the first time since the 1926-27 season, as they suffered their fifth-straight loss today after falling 75-63 to the North Carolina Tar Heels in the CBS Sports Classic.
Kentucky could not stay out of foul trouble as Lance Ware and Isaiah Jackson both fouled out with over six minutes left to play, Olivier Sarr fouled out with just over 4:30 to play, and Terrence Clarke fouled out with a minute left.
Despite the foul trouble, Kentucky took the lead into halftime (38-34), but the Tar Heels out scored the Cats 41-25 in the second half to pick up the victory.
With the loss, UK’s NCAA Tournament hopes took yet another hit as they’re now 1-5 and have lost all four of their games against non-power five opponents so far this season.
Here’s a look at what Kentucky Twitter had to say about yet another UK loss.
First Half:
Good! I was hoping to watch some aggressive refereeing today and not Isaiah Jackson.

I think I could walk into a UNC practice and start getting some shots up and no one would say a word.

Davion Mintz came to play.

By the way, Jacob Toppin attempted murder a couple years ago. That dunk try was WUT.
— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) December 19, 2020
Wait, you mean to tell me it was too early to write off a top-five recruit five games into his freshman season?
— Jack Pilgrim (@JackPilgrimKSR) December 19, 2020
Without exhibition and tune-up games?

Not entertaining any BJ Boston slander on my timeline.

Liking the fight so far. Gotta bring it for another 20 minutes! pic.twitter.com/MPpB6wAB4P

Second Half:
The number of bad fouls committed this year is amazing.

Hey, @CBSSports, can you just turn the fake crowd noise off if it’s going to be this bad?
— Meisterbuerger (@meisterbuerger) December 19, 2020
What the hell was that last sequence?
— Aaron Gershon (@agershon99) December 19, 2020
THROW THE BALL UP!!!!
— Tod Lanter (@tod_lanterIII) December 19, 2020
Wow! Finishing through that kind of contact?! Brutal foul. pic.twitter.com/E1x2GwsXA1

Really, really like what I've seen from Devin Askew today. Aggressive, decisive, high-energy. He's given Kentucky a ton.
— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) December 19, 2020
That’s as bad of a foul from Sarr than against Kansas in transition. What are you thinking?!?
— Bryan Kennedy (@BKennedyTV) December 19, 2020
Since we're going to be seeing a whole helluva lot of free throws over the next hour or so, the FT stats so far:
— Ben Roberts (@BenRobertsHL) December 19, 2020
Kentucky: 12/19
Carolina: 5/11
Not great!
Apparently you cannot set a pick in this game. Just do not do it. It’s automatically a foul
— Matt Duckworth (@iDuck14) December 19, 2020
We still have that big baseball player on the team? He might be our only big left.
— Dowell Harmon ✊ (@Do_WellHarmon) December 19, 2020
Lance Ware is the first UK player to foul out. Can't imagine he will be the last.
— Jon Hale (@JonHale_CJ) December 19, 2020
Seems as if Coach Cal continually yelling works well.
— Bradley Stevenson (@bss1974) December 19, 2020
Twice today - Jackson and Sarr - UK has set very obvious moving screens. Middle school kids know better.
— Darrell Bird (@DarrellBird) December 19, 2020
I just can’t wrap my mind around why year after year they are so bad at shooting free throws...
— Maci Morris (@Maci4Mo) December 19, 2020
Kentucky looks like it's headed for 1-5. DO NOT PANIC!!
— Seth Davis (@SethDavisHoops) December 19, 2020
Olivier Sarr's trip to Cleveland yielded 5 fouls, 4 rebounds, 3 turnovers, 2 points & no field-goal attempts.
— Mark Story (@markcstory) December 19, 2020
this can't be right, can it? Cats haven't started 1-5 since 1926-27? Is this right..?
— Steve Moss (@smosswkyt) December 19, 2020
Calipari obviously doesn't have confidence in Allen at this point. https://t.co/EER4QPIPe2
— John Clay (@johnclayiv) December 19, 2020
Based on what I’m seeing on https://t.co/dpSThysvTA, the Kentucky basketball is still bad.
— Josh Moore (@JoshMooreHL) December 19, 2020
Y'all will save this and throw it back in my face in March, but can we really see this team getting fixed? Can we really envision this group even making the NCAA Tournament?
— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) December 19, 2020
I was midway through a snarky response before I realized you were mocking Calipari.
— Jack Pilgrim (@JackPilgrimKSR) December 19, 2020
Yeah, that's the one. Might be verbatim. https://t.co/4dOOg4JRWj
It is pretty wild that Fletcher only played three minutes in a game where four players and three in the frontcourt fouled out. Cal probably has a reason or a lesson but he really went out of his way to not play him.
— Justin Rowland (@RowlandRIVALS) December 19, 2020
Complain about the Refs all you want, but no team can go 9 mins without a FG and miss this many FT’s and blame anyone but themselves!!
— Tim Rogers (@pocobaseball) December 19, 2020
Armando Bacot said UK came out thinking they were "going to punk us" in the early going: "It's not last year. We're not goin' for none of that shit this year."
— Ben Roberts (@BenRobertsHL) December 19, 2020
UNC has worst season in years 2019 but avoids UK & humiliation of missing the tourney due to the whole tourney being cancelled. Then this struggling UK team backs into a game vs UNC. Peak 2020. And all History will remember is a big fat L today. Just glad UK didnt get embarrassed
— FakeBarneyKSR (@FakeBarneyKSR) December 19, 2020
All y’all saying you’re not watching UK basketball anymore (which we all know is a lie) let me put y’all on to watching @KentuckyWBB who are 7-1
