Terry Wilson returns to practice

Wilson is working his way back from a wrist injury.

The Kentucky Wildcats are on their bye week as they search for answers following a 2-4 start.

They got some good news Wednesday when quarterback Terry Wilson returned to practice, according to head coach Mark Stoops, who added that it’s unclear who will start next week vs. Vanderbilt.

Wilson, who suffered a wrist injury during the loss at Missouri, was unable to practice the following week, which paved the way for Joey Gatewood to make his first start vs. Georgia.

Unfortunately, it went badly, as Gatewood completed just 15/25 passes for 95 yards while running 16 times for 23 yards and a fumble. Kentucky’s offense was held to just 229 total yards in the 14-3 loss to the Bulldogs.

Now that Wilson is back at practice, perhaps he’ll get some run next week vs. the Dores if Gatewood is ineffective. I would expect Gatewood to start but have a short leash.

True freshman Beau Allen is also getting reps in practice, so it’s not out of the question we see him on the field eventually.
