The Kentucky Wildcats radio broadcasts will be a little different when the team hits the road this season.
UK Sports Network play-by-play man Tom Leach and color commentator Mike Pratt will not travel to road games this season amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
This is different to Football broadcasts where Leach, along with color commentator Jeff Piecoro and sideline reporter Dick Gabriel have made each road trip, but with an indoor venue and the risk of the virus spreading greater inside, the UK Sports Network will not be hitting the road during basketball season.
Instead, Leach and Pratt will broadcast games live from Lexington in a studio still bringing the Big Blue Nation that chooses to listen to the game on radio the action.
“It’s going to be really different. I honestly do not know how hard it will be because I have never experienced anything like that, but apparently, all the leagues are going to that. The SEC has the affiliation with the SEC Network obviously so we can get what we need to call the game,” Pratt said an interview with Larry Vaught of Vaughts Views.
UK’s first game away from Rupp Arena is scheduled for Dec. 1 when they take on the Kansas Jayhawks in Indianapolis as part of the Champions Classic.
