Kentucky is in a rough spot heading into Gainesville.

NCAA Football: Florida at Vanderbilt Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The Kentucky Wildcats are fresh off of a 63-3 whooping by the Alabama Crimson Tide. They were short handed in that game due to COVID-19 issues and they will be so even more against the Gators.

The UK offense has been under a great deal of scrutiny here in the last month. It’s going to be tough sledding to get the offense back on track against a Florida team that still has hopes for the College Football Playoffs. Dan Mullen and Kyle Trask will be looking to gain some major style points today to impress the committee.

I have zero confidence that Kentucky can win today. I have very little confidence that they can even make it a game. What we saw at Alabama was a full meltdown with the defense all but quitting in the second half. Now add even more COVID problems to the game and what we have is a recipe for disaster.

Hopefully they can get one more win against South Carolina next weekend.

Tweets of the Day

The Richmond Spiders are a very good basketball game. A perfect tuneup before the Kansas Jayhawks on Tuesday.

Quickies

Bold predictions for the SEC | SDS- I’ll be stunned if Kentucky scores seventeen points but pleased nonetheless.

Key match ups and a score prediction | LHL- Florida has an advantage at every single position except for one. Could be a long Saturday.

Cats looking for redemption in Gainesville | UK Athletics- Maybe not the best spot to look for redemption.

Short handed Kentucky optimistic vs. Florida | Courier-Journal- Hopefully they can carry that positivity and do something big today. That’s about all I can muster at this point.

Armand Schoot decommits | Cats Pause- This is something to keep an eye on for the recruiting class. The more Kentucky struggles on offense the more Stoops and Marrow will have to convince recruits that it will be fixed.

NFL orders two day COVID buffer period | USA Today- This order does not effect games but will alter teams’ weekly practice and preparation.

Oregon State stuns the Ducks in the fog | Building the Dam- This was one helluva fun game to watch as the Civil War was bogged down in some of the worst fog I’ve ever seen.

Ohio State’s playoff hopes in limbo | Eleven Warriors- The Buckeyes are dealing with COVID and it may be costly. Their game today vs. Illinois has already been canceled and if they miss one more game they won’t be eligible for the BIG 10 championship game.

Virginia loses stunner vs. San Francisco | ESPN- I hate Virginia basketball with the heat of 1,000 suns and I was on cloud 9 when Tony Bennett and his un-athletic, overrated squad lost yesterday.

Tom Herman is officially on the hot seat | CBS- It’s not looking good for Tom Herman as he once again comes up short in a big game. This isn’t what the fans in Austin bought into with Herman.

Steelers vs. Ravens moved once again | Sporting News- As the Baltimore Ravens continue to struggle with COVID, the Steelers badly want to add a big time division win. Maybe the third time is the charm for this game.

Tune into the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife UK Postgame Show immediately after the game. We will make it as fun as possible. I promise.
