The Kentucky Wildcats snap a two-game losing skid with a win over the Vanderbilt Commodores, 38-35 over an 0-5 Vanderbilt team.
It was a good showing for the Kentucky offense, but the defense left much to be desired as a Vanderbilt team which was averaging just 12 points per game, put up 35 on Kentucky, who leads the SEC in scoring defense and turnovers.
That is just another problem that Kentucky has had this year, one side of the ball shows up while the other does not, never fully putting together a complete game. It was, overall, a pretty brutal game for the UK defense, as they forced zero turnovers and only had one sack on the day.
This game was different, however, with the emotional toll of losing offensive line coach John Schlarman on Thursday weighing on the team.
Kentucky is supposed to play Alabama next week, but that remains to be seen.

Kentucky has had several opportunities to put this game out of reach, but the defense just can't get off the field. Vanderbilt is playing well, obviously not going to give up, but the talent differential is just too much to be this close.

Kentucky survives, but plenty to be frustrated with on the defensive side of the ball. Got manhandled by a winless Vanderbilt team, pretty embarrassing effort.
