Good morning, ladies and gentlemen of the Big Blue Nation, and welcome to the Tuesday Morning Quickies.
So, as usual on a Tuesday after a game, I’ll offer my quick takes on how it went:
Makes me smile
- Overall offensive performance was good, if not great. More than good enough to win most games against most foes.
- Terry Wilson’s decision-making was much better than at Auburn, and most of his throws were either very good or catchable.
- The running backs performed very well as a group. It would be hard to ask for better just looking at the overall performance.
Makes me frown
- The eternal enigma of mobile QB’s vs. UK defense continues to confound, but honestly, a lot of that can be directly traced to Ole Miss’ success throwing the ball.
- Flashing the “deuces” 15 yards from the end zone.
- Bafflingly poor officiating.
- The offensive line’s inconsistency hurrying the passer, and indifferent tackling by the linebackers.
- Catchable footballs dropped all over the field.
Makes me beg for mercy
- The defensive backfield. Mark Stoops was a DB, and is supposed to be “defensive-minded.” I would like for that to show up sometime before the end of the season, and the sooner the better. Loathsome defensive backfield performance.
- The linebackers in coverage were no better. Maybe worse.
- Special teams. No exposition is needed, I hope.
- Fuuumble(s).

Argh. Ole Miss collateral damage.

Bad look for our Defense https://t.co/68gk9XIvAP
- Mark Stoops and the understatement of the year so far regarding the defense: ”We did not play very good.”
- Well, except for the fusillade of dropped passes and pathetic effort getting off the goal line, I’d pretty much agree.
Kentucky quarterback and offense overall played well Saturday https://t.co/SqrLgqENjY

- Zero forced turnovers is “concerning” to Mark Stoops.
- Mark Stoops tries to explain what’s wrong with the tragic Kentucky defense. You’re gonna need a bigger blog.
- Mike Leach returns to Kentucky at the helm of Mississippi State, brings the “Air Raid” with him.
Kentucky basketball
- Can’t wait to see him.
