The Kentucky Wildcats aren’t off to the start in 2020 that we all expected after an overtime loss to Ole Miss dropped the record to 0-2 on the year.
The Wildcats will be looking to get on the winning track this Saturday when they face off with the Mississippi State Bulldogs at 7:30 PM on the SEC Network.
Coming into the game, we will be keeping our eyes on the Kentucky defense that has been getting torched in the secondary through two weeks, including 320 passing yards to Ole Miss last week.
On the bright side, the Wildcats’ offense was rolling on Saturday putting up 559 total yards and lighting up the scoreboard for 41 points and only turning the ball over once when going for a 4th down conversion.
Now they get ready to face a Mississippi State team that has transformed into an air raid offense under Mike Leach.
In the opening week, the Bulldogs threw for 623 yards and then despite losing 21-14 to Arkansas this week, the Bulldogs still passed for 313 yards, but the four turnovers proved costly.
With the way this Kentucky defense has looked, it is not an ideal matchup for the Cats, but we will have to see if this defense can respond after two straight weeks of poor coverage.
The schedule is not set up very well for the Cats, so a win on Saturday is an absolute must, or else this season could get ugly.
