After a disappointing effort last Saturday against Missouri, the Cats face one of their toughest opponents of the year in Georgia.
However, Kentucky has a bit of a boost this week, as Joey Gatewood is officially getting the nod to start against the Dawgs.
While Georgia is the overwhelming favorite, a new quarterback who has been talked about a lot, who has a lot of potential, can give a team with a defense like the Cats a lot of energy and a possibility of an upset.
Georgia’s only loss this year came against Alabama where we saw the Dawgs go through a second-half meltdown.
I don’t expect that, but I do expect Kentucky’s defense to be able to keep them in the game long enough to give their offense opportunities.
It’s hard to explain what exactly happened on Saturday, but we know the offense completely stunted.
There will be a lot of pressure on Eddie Gran this week to figure things out with his new quarterback. Hopefully, Gatewood comes in and takes advantage of this opportunity and plays well enough to secure the starting job for the rest of the season.
While Terry Wilson has done a lot for this program, going back and forth between quarterbacks has never, and will never work for any team.
