The Kentucky Wildcats football team is currently playing in Kroger Field in front of 20 percent capacity, but the basketball team may be limited to just 15 percent in Rupp Arena this upcoming season.
Kentucky state senator Damon Thayer allegedly revealed Eli Capiluto’s plan for Kentucky basketball games for the 2020-21 season.
Apparently @KentuckyMBB is only allowing 15% capacity @Rupp_Arena this season according to letter from @UKYpres

Pretty sad & unnecessary. It can work with more fans but everyone is running scared from the fearmongering from Gov Andy Beshear and Fayette Health Dept #BBN
Thayer says that a private letter from the University of Kentucky president revealed the plan, which would consist of a little over 3,000 fans in the building. Rupp Arena’s remaining 2020 concert schedule also only allows 15 percent attendance, so many already expected this to be the case.
Thayer also expressed his personal opinion towards the news, which clearly wasn’t based on the state’s worrisome increase in COVID-19 cases.
It was always expected that there would be less fans at basketball games than football games due to the former being held inside rather than outside. However, I think we all hoped months ago that this would be over by now.
But here we are and it doesn’t look like things are going to change any time soon.
However, regardless of where you have to watch this team, it should be fun because the Cats are primed for a big year and gearing up for No. 9.
