The Kentucky Wildcats lose a clunker of a game on the road in Columbia against the Missouri Tigers, 20-10.
It was an abysmal performance by the Wildcats, as they were out-gained in every facet of the game, from yards to time of possession to play-calling.
The defense itself did a decent job of holding Missouri to 20 points, despite giving up multiple fourth down conversions, but the offense provided absolutely no help for the defense, in what was one of the worst offensive performances by Eddie Gran and the offense in years, and that’s really saying something.
It was a horrible step back after a big-time win in Knoxville last week, and a severe disappointment. The coaching staff has a lot to answer for in the week to come, especially Gran.
You can not win games by being out-snapped by over 50 plays, it just will not happen.
Kentucky gets Georgia at home next week.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the meltdown:

Kentucky's 145 total yards fewest since 96 at South Carolina on Oct. 8, 2011. UK lost that game 54-3. #bbn #ukfootball
— John Clay (@johnclayiv) October 24, 2020
Kentucky just isn't good enough at QB and WR to be an upper-half SEC team this season. It's that simple. Good enough everywhere else.
— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) October 24, 2020
I’m no football guru, as ive mentioned many times, but what stops us from hanging the ball to Rodriguez and letting him get 2-4 yards every play like we did with Benny? Why do the coaches refuse to do try it when literally nothing else is working?
— Things #BBN Likes (@ThingsBBNLikes) October 24, 2020
Just an awful performance in every way
— Matt Jones (@KySportsRadio) October 24, 2020
Kentucky completely dominated by a team that wanted it a lot more than they did
That’ll do it. Shameful performance by Eddie Gran, horrible execution on run defense. Had trap game written all over it, we’ll see what will happen next week against the Dawgs...
— Brent Rainscott (@BrentWainscott_) October 24, 2020
Eddie gran should be fired before he leaves the locker room. You have the best offensive line in the country and a stable of backs and you piss one away in Missouri
— Duncan (@Dunc89) October 24, 2020
Kinda done with the mental gymnastics. The offense is holding the program back.
— Justin Rowland (@RowlandRIVALS) October 24, 2020
All of our running backs are great. It’s Gran’s refusal to establish the run that is hurting us. He wants to be a throwing offense so bad, but that isn’t is. Run the ball to establish the pass! It’s that simple for this offense. https://t.co/oMiLzkLIe8

A guy who changed his name to Fire Eddie Gran doing a better job than Jon Hale of wording something might be the upset of the day. https://t.co/OwTyYoHJ1B
— Adam Griggs (@businessraptor) October 24, 2020
Im glad everyone is finally seeing what trash Eddie gran is.....
— Eric Dixon (@TeamChadJohnson) October 24, 2020
I think this is an SEC low in yardage under Eddie Gran. Only had 149 against Florida in 2016. 178 against Texas A&M in 2018. Those were the two I thought might have been worse than today.
— Derek Terry (@DerekSTerry) October 24, 2020
I’d like to see Mark Stoops & Eddie Gran take the debate stage next, just some Kristin Welker can ask them both....
— Alan (@DerbyWill) October 24, 2020
...’What the F**K was that?!?!!!’
Missouri is going to run over 50 more plays than Kentucky this game. Texas A&M in 2018 was an all-time bad UK offensive game, but this has to be the worst performance of the Eddie Gran era. An all-around failure by the offense today.

3 things:
— Hunter Osborne (@JHOsborne20) October 24, 2020
1. Eddie Gran was HORRIBLE today. No other words. Horrible play calling. Horrible personnel choices. 2. The defense didn’t look great but played well enough to win. 3. The @SECNetwork C crew that called the game should be promoted to viewers like us
Start playing the young guys at WR. Josh Ali can't hold on to the ball when he actually does make a catch. No one else can catch. Eddie Gran completely choked this game away too. A top-3 worst game under Stoops.

Finally, after three years, @JStreble82 is on my side.
— Jason Ence (@jasonuk17) October 24, 2020
"Eddie Gran should be fired. Bye Felicia!"
And this is the kid of season, regardless of past success and the W-L record with Eddie Gran at OC, that has to make Mark Stoops think long and hard about a change in the play caller's seat. https://t.co/OJj9QSmKKF
— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) October 24, 2020
Someone deserves all the criticism for decisions like that. There is no reason for Rodriguez to not be on the field to start that drive.
— Shawn Smith (@gbbcountry) October 24, 2020
The QB isn’t the problem. The RBs aren’t the problem. The line isn’t the problem. The problem is Eddie Gran. Dude has overstayed his welcome. As long as he is there, Kentucky has reached their peak.
— Fire Eddie Gran (@anthony_light96) October 24, 2020
When does Eddie Gran face the music? He's been rescued 2 years: by Snell and Bowden. We don't have the talent to rescue him this year and our scheme sucks, even with one of the best O-lines in the country. I think he may have overstayed his welcome. #BBN

Cats about to get their 3rd self inflicted loss of the season... a lot of red flags show up when you don’t have multiple pick-6s and interceptions ♂️
— Keith Garrett (@B3KeithG) October 24, 2020
No way we only have 46 passing yards...
— Mike Edwards (@M__Edwards7) October 24, 2020
Haven’t watched much of it, but I’m tired of tiptoeing around feelings about the offense. Hinshaw and Gran are average and have held the program back.
— Travis Graf (@TravisGraf_) October 24, 2020
You have to take a look in the mirror if you’re Stoops.
If I’m higher than a 5.5 WR, I’m not coming to play in this offense. https://t.co/TGEy3Wd6ml

FINAL:
— Kernel Sports (@KYKernelSports) October 24, 2020
Missouri - 20, Kentucky - 10
The Cats only possessed the ball for 16:50 of the 60:00 minutes in the game.
In news much more important than a football game, everyone should pray fore John Schlarman family. He was unable to make the trip to the game today
— Matt Jones (@KySportsRadio) October 24, 2020
Eddie Gran has an entire Waffle House menu playbook to choose from but orders toast over and over
— matthew mahone (@M_E_Mahone) October 24, 2020
Josh Ali's fumble took away attention from what I thought was an extremely curious decision to go back to Joey Gatewood. What exactly is the thought process on playing Wilson the second half until the final drive? Is Gatewood the guy next week? Bunch of questions.
— Derek Terry (@DerekSTerry) October 24, 2020
The SEC is changing. Drinkwitz is clearly a play calling guru. Kiffin has an offensive juggernaut. Leach will get his players. South Carolina can score. You won't be able to win many league games completing 6 or 7 passes in a game for much longer.
