This has been a very positive week for the Kentucky Wildcats as Olivier Sarr and Jacob Toppin were both ruled eligible for this season.
Then on Thursday night, the Cats added a player to their 2022 class when top 3 combo guard Skyy Clark announced he was committing to Kentucky.
Now we have another positive recruiting update, but for the 2021 class.
On Friday afternoon, the Cats picked up a pair of 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictions for 2021 power forward Daimion Collins from Eric Bossi and Brian Snow, two of the best in the business.
And over at Rivals, recruiting analyst Russ Wood also logged a prediction in favor of the Wildcats. These are the first three predictions Kentucky has logged for Collins, who is currently ranked as the No. 10 overall player and the No. 5 power forward in the class via Rivals.
This is no doubt the early effect of Coach Cal adding Jai Lucas to staff seeing that he was recruiting Collins to Texas and many expected that is where he would end up prior to Kentucky hiring Lucas.
As it currently stands, it is believed that Kentucky and the Oklahoma Sooners are the top two contenders for the Texas native, as they are the only two teams currently holding Crystal Ball predictions to land Collins.
Here is the scouting report on Collins according to 247 Sports’ Jerry Meyer.
“Quite thin but has long arms and is quick off the floor as an explosive leaper. Highly mobile with good hands. Finishes with strength around rim and can score facing. Has potential to greatly improve as a face up player. Defensively, is a high-level shot blocker who can also move his feet on perimeter. Can also rebound outside his area. Raw offensively in general but has great potential.”
This will be a recruitment to keep an eye on going forward and hopefully in the end Collins is on his way to Lexington to be a Wildcat.
