A new offer is out in 2022, and it’s to one of the best players in all of high school hoops.

On Sunday night, five-star center Jalen Duren was offered by the Kentucky Wildcats. He is ranked No. 2 overall in the Class of 2022 by 247 Sports Composite, which measures all of the major recruiting rankings. Tipton Edits broke the news first.

A 6-10, 230-pound center from Philadelphia (PA), Duren plays at Montverde Academy in Florida. He transferred in from Philadelphia’s Roman Catholic High School this past April.

Among the other schools who’ve offered Duren include Villanova Wildcats, UCLA Bruins, Michigan Wolverines, Auburn Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide among others.

The only other uncommitted recruit with an offer from Kentucky in 2022 is five-star point guard Skyy Clark, who is set to announce his decision on Oct. 22. It’s about time the Wildcats offer a frontcourt target in 2022, and Duren is arguably the best there is, so a good start. It’s unclear if Duren is a reclass option for 2021. He was born in 2004 and is 16 years old.

There currently no 247 Crystal Ball or Rivals FutureCast picks logged for Duren. And with the coronavirus killing in-person recruiting for the time being, it may be a while until Duren can really kickstart his recruitment.
