The Kentucky Wildcats have finally ended their dreaded losing streak to Tennessee when it comes to games played in Knoxville.
Coming into Saturday, Kentucky had lost 17-straight games in Knoxville, but that streak ended thanks to a 34-7 win over the Vols. A big part of that was the Wildcats’ defense recording not one but two picks-sixes.
After cornerback Kelvin Joseph got one, it was linebacker Jamin Davis who grabbed the second and took it 85 yards to put Kentucky up 14-0, which effectively ended the game after the Vols could only muster up seven points.
Following the win, Davis got a chance to speak with the media and talk about his pick-six, which he hopes made his mother proud.
“I thought I was bout to pass out for a second. I’m just like sheesh... a pick-six. Let me go ahead and get it. Might as well just run my balls off and...I made it,” Davis said after the game. “Hope my mama proud of that one.”
As for the win, Davis admitted this one was really important to the Wildcats after the frustrating losses they suffered to the Vols in recent years.
“We were just so excited to get the W. We’re tired of coming here and leaving empty handed. It’s always a great feeling to win, but beating them here is very special.”
In addition, Kentucky Wildcats TV did an extended look at Davis’ pick-six, which is even more beautiful than you could have imagined.
