Another year, another painfully-long losing streak ended by Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats.
This time, Kentucky ended a 17-game losing streak to the No. 18 Tennessee Volunteers in games played at Neyland Stadium. Despite entering the game as six-point underdogs, the Cats absolutely dismantled the Vols en route to a 34-7 win, the biggest margin of victory Kentucky has ever had on the road vs. a top-25 team.
The Cats’ defense was the story of the game, as they forced four Volunteer turnovers — two being pick-sixes by Kelvin Joseph and Jamin Davis — while holding Tennessee to just 287 total yards and seven points.
Terry Wilson, who now owns road victories at Florida and Tennessee, ran for 32 yards while throwing for 101 and a score. His 73.6 QBR was the fourth-highest he’s ever had in a a game played away from Kroger Field.
Chris Rodriguez Jr. was the top rusher with 73 yards and a score on just 13 carries. He’s beginning to establish himself as the top back in Kentucky’s absolutely stacked backfield.
Up next, the Cats are back on the road to face the Missouri Tigers at 4 pm EST on Oct. 24.
