It’s about that time again!
The Kentucky Wildcats are gearing up to take on the Tennessee Volunteers in the annual boarder battle between the two SEC East rivals.
Unfortunately, the record is quite lopsided with Tennessee leading the all-time matchup 81-25-9. However, the games over the last 5 seasons have been fairly competitive, with last year’s ending at the goal line after Kentucky failed to punch it in.
The Cats are coming off of their first victory after taking down Mississippi State 24-2. The defense had an astounding 6 interceptions, showing off their secondary talent that everyone was high on heading into the season.
As for the Volunteers, they are 2-1 on the season, coming off a loss to Georgia. The Vols actually led at halftime, but the Dogs erupted for 27 unanswered 2nd-half points. Tennessee has looked impressive, but the Cats can pull the upset if they bring their A game to Knoxville.
This is a big game for the Cats. You could argue that UK should’ve beaten UT the past two seasons. In 2018, the Cats best season of all time, they lost to the Vols after coming off a draining loss to Georgia for the SEC East title.
Last year, the game came down to one or two plays that, if they went Kentucky’s way, the Cats would’ve one.
These are the kind of games you have to win if you want the respect this program desires. Right now the Vols are a 6-point point favorite.
