Joel Justus discusses how Olivier Sarr is becoming a leader for young Cats

Sarr is still waiting on a decision from the SEC on his immediate eligibility waiver.

The 2020 college basketball season is right around the corner and the Kentucky Wildcats will begin official practice on Friday.

On Wednesday, Joel Justus did a virtual press conference discussing the upcoming season and taking any other questions people had.

One of the topics was of course Olivier Sarr who has already been cleared by the NCAA for immediate eligibility but has yet to receive a waiver from the SEC allowing him to play this season.

Unfortunately, Justus didn’t have any updates on the waiver situation, but he did provide some information on the impact that Sarr is having on this team and his attitude about the long wait.

“Olivier is a beautiful person that has a great attitude and a positive outlook on every single day,” Justus said. “He is one of the first guys in the gym. He’s putting in extra time. He’s becoming a great leader for this young group.”

Despite Sarr having to wait so long for the SEC to make a decision on his waiver, Justus noted that they are waiting to see what Friday’s first practice looks like.

“We’re all just waiting to see what Friday looks like and see who shows up to practice, I guess. That’s always a good sign.”

Who knows how long we will have to wait to finally get a decision from the SEC, but we will bring you any updates that are released on the situation.
